DN’s lime green raglan is ready to wear. I am quite pleased with myself; I do NOT like weaving in ends and tend to put it off till “later”, but this time I actually got it done the same day I finished the actual knitting. Another first for me was the way I dealt with the underarm shaping. I did not cast off the stitches, but instead placed them on some spare yarn, and when done with the knitting used kitchener stitch to graft the sleeves and body together. As you can see in the picture, it is not perfect, but as this is my 1st time ever doing kitchener stitch I am quite happy with the result.

To like or not: I like it a lot. I enjoy knitting raglans and this turned out exactly the way I hoped.

It’s taking me ridiculously long to knit this thing, but the raglan for for 4yr old DN is almost done. As mentioned earlier I’m using Harmony from Bendigo Woolen Mills. It’s made from 30% wool, 69.6% cotton and 0.4% lycra. This yarn has three strands that are fairly loosely twisted together, so it’s quite splitty, and I’ve had to be extra careful about making sure I didn’t inadvertently miss a strand. The lycra gives the yarn and the knitted fabric a slightly uneven texture, which I really like. Apart from the fact that this must be handwashed it’s a nice yarn for children’s wear. Pleasantly soft, and suitable for year round wear which is a plus when they grow out of things so fast.

I’ve made good progress on DN’s sweater this week; I’ve already completed the main part of the body and one sleeve and am about to start the second sleeve. But since this sweater is for a 4 yr old, we are not talking about a whole lotta knitting. Still can’t find the cable to hook up the camera to the pc.
I signed up for Mystery Stole 3. This will be my first ever KAL. I’m not yet sure I will actually knit this stole - the thought of spending precious knitting time on a project I might not like the look of does not appeal to me. I’ll probably decide after seeing the first clue.

Today was WWKIPD and I did my KIP in one of the coffee outlets in KL together with Jackie, Mira, Mona, Rain and Sally among others. I had a very nice time - I think this was just what I needed to get me knitting again.
Took pictures, but unfortunately I can’t seem to find the cable to connect the camera to the pc.
I decided to start a new project for the occasion and cast on for a bottom-up in the round raglan pullover for my almost-4-yr-old newphew using Harmony from Bendigo Woolen Mills and Ann Budd’s The Knitter’s Handy Book of Sweater Patterns. Harmony must be washed by hand and as such is perhaps not the obvious choice for knitting for an active little boy, but my sister likes the wool/cotton combo and unlike her domestically challenged sibling does not mind the extra work involved in handwashing. Pics to follow when I finally find that cable!
